The best thing you can do is look for the British Standard Kite Mark. If you see this sign displayed on the product, it means it has been certified by the British Standard Institute for meeting the required security standards.
If not, we strongly recommend replacing your locks. Otherwise, they could put not only your door security at risk, but your entire home security system, as well.
Consider Viewers for Enhanced Door Security
If your doors don’t have clear glass, then a door viewer can turn out to be a valuable addition as it allows to see who’s on your doorstep without having to open the door. There are three main options to choose from:
- The spyhole viewers. These are the most common ones and come with a fisheye lens which provide a wide angle of view of the area outside the door.
- Prism viewers. Unlike spyholes, prism viewers don’t require users to put their eyes on the viewer. You’ll be able to see who’s outside directly onto a viewing screen from as far as seven metres.
- Secure Vision Panel. One of the most popular designs consists of three panels of glass with a handle of the back of the door. Using the handle, users can slide the opaque middle panel of glass and see who’s on the other side of the door.

Add Security Grills to Your Door Windows
